By default, the onscreen keyboard is used to enter text on your system. However, if you have an external keyboard with your system, it becomes the default mechanism for text entry.
If the external keyboard has been removed, your system may remain in "attached keyboard mode". If you select a field for text entry, you will need to select the keyboard button to view the onscreen keyboard.
Shutdown and restart your system to turn "attached keyboard mode" off.
